Weekly Web Series Update: 11/07/09

This has been an incredible week for web series, old and new. Even later this month, season 2 of Space Hospital begins. On a side note: I truly promise to have a regular review this Thursday. Things have been a little chaotic with work, weather, time change and a new evil game release… But enough about me. On to what really matters, web series!!

November started off with a huge explosion. Riese the Series and HTSAAAR started their first season this week. Very good first episodes from both, but will wait for a few more before I post a review. Should never form an opinion or a review on just the pilot episode. A show needs to grow more, so one can see the vision more clearly. Hmm… Think I just repeated something from a previous post, but it applies to this one as well. I’m going to suggest a few series that are only within their first episodes, and of course, several I’ve been following. Will categorize them.

Premiering the week of 11/01-11/07:

Riese the Series Season 1 Episode 1: First heard of this series while trying to find food just outside of San Diego Comic Con 2009. Amid the chaos of the crowds, flyers and the heat, I totally brushed off what a group of people were saying as they handed me a button. I soon realized the error of my ways when in October during their online promotion for the upcoming series. After looking at the website, trailer and the first episode… I so regret not getting more info back then. Though, I am intrigued after the premiere episode. Looks very promising. You must check out their web page, watch the episode before the next one airs, visit the official store and join the fan club. Will have more info when I post a full review.

HTSAAAR Season 1 Episode 1: You will soon, if not already, know HTSAAAR stands for Hurtling Through Space At An Alarming Rate. Not entirely sure what the series is about. It starts off with two guys in a house hurtling through space… They run into a monster, that I swear lives in my house. This series has great writing, the actors are great and the FX are also great. From just the first episode, I’m hooked. Check out the series on Bablegum

Next one was from the week before…

Semi-Dead Season 1 Episode 1: This came out around Halloween, and as the name implies… involves zombies. From just the first episode, I can’t honestly review this series yet. Unsure if it’s a comedy, or drama. It does have a bit of both, and is intriguing. Will definitely be posting on this one later in the season. Tune into their BlipTV page and on YouTube.

Now for the ongoing series…

Duck ‘n Cover Season 2 Episode 7: This also is a Halloween episode. Wasn’t expecting what I watched. Don’t get me wrong. I always expect a funny episode, and they deliver every time. But this one… wow! They definitely channeled some David Lynch. Was an outstanding Halloween episode. Enjoy it at Funny or Die! and vote ;)

The Web.Files Season 1 Episode 18: As always entertaining and informative, Kristyn Burrt interviews Jeremy Redleaf, creator of Odd Jobs and winner of 15 Gigs of Fame Award at the 2009 NYTV Fest. The series spun into a very cool web site. Must suggest in checking out the interview and the Odd Job web site.

MYMHM Season 1 Episode 26: ‘King of Kong’, definitely not your kids kinda game. This reminds me of all those quarters I wasted in the arcades of my youth. Seriously though, this is a very cool episode. It is their first documentary, and was a suggestion that won @charlesyi (from Twitter… in case ya didn’t know) a t-shirt. That was the last winner from their contests. Check out the show here, and participate. Truly a very cool web site.

The Guild Season 3 Episode 9: ‘Wit’s End’, desperate times call for desperate measures. Fractures continue to grow, pressure forces a confrontation and what is a Damask? Watch the tale unfold. One of many best episodes of this series. Watch at MSN

The Crew Season 2 Episode: ‘Misguided’. Though I’ve been following this series, I’ve yet to post a review… Very shameful, but will be fixed soon. Must suggest watching from the beginning. If you want to jump ahead, and enjoy watching the beautiful and talented Jessica Rose (@jessicaleerose on Twitter) then check out the latest episode here.
