Weekly Web Series Update: 11/21/09 (Favorite Picks)
To start with, my lack of posting last week does not mean there was nothing to update. Was just an off week for me. So to start this off with my…
Picks of The Week:
1) A ComicBook Orange: Season 4.7
This is a great web video podcast series for those comic book lovers out there. The Comic Book Orange team do an excellent job on reviewing recent releases of comic books, as well as interviewing the insightful and creative talent behind much of the titles. Casey McKinnon (writer and host) along with Rudy Jahchan (writer, Director for Seasons 1 & 2) from 8Bit Brownies Inc. are also responsible for another cool web show, Galacticast.
2) Hurtling Through Space at an Alarming Rate: Season 1.3
Is a new comedic web series. Well worth catching up now, as it is only on it’s 3rd episode. Something about this series reminds me a bit of ‘Hitchhikers Guide to The Galaxy’. Could be the dry and witty humor, or the concept of having an apartment hurtle through space. Which ever the reason, this is truly an enjoyable series. No heavy under tones, or message… Well, there might be one in the first episode, but we all need a reminder to do the laundry… don’t we? HTSAAAR is created by the people behind another amazing award nominated series After Judgement
3) The Crew: 2.6 Rendezvous
Yet another awesome episode from a great series. Philip Bache II, Brett Register, Craig Frank, Chad Jamian, Taryn O’Neill, Woody Tondorf, Daniel Norman, & Ariel Lazarus are amazing! For those following the series, it is easy to understand the situation presented in this episode. For those not following this awesome series… Got to it and start watching!
4) Space Hospital: Season 1
Log 0.25: The Courtship of Nurse Ratknee - watch more funny videos
Delightfully funny series. Picture if you will, a slice of General Hospital mixed with a little Space 1999 (an old space action TV series… for those younger readers) and robots. Blend that up for a bit, and let chill. Then relax and enjoy this series. Season 2 will soon air, so I would advise watching the first season to get up-to-date on the zaniness and intrigue that humorously fills this hospital.
5) The Guild: 3.11 ‘Battle Royale’ (a.k.a. ‘Lan On!’ Not sure whats with the two names.. But still same episode)
Found an embeddable video, but the quality was poor. Just click the link above and you’ll watch it in good quality. Lines have been draw, and the stakes have been stated. This episode got me nerveous as to it’s out come… to be continued. As stated before in this blog of mine, this is my web series first love. With great actors and superb writing, I must firmly suggest you watch this series.
6) MYMHM: Episode 28
In this episode, they review a great movie, ‘The Man Who Would Be King’ with the talented Sean Connery and Micheal Caine. Check them out for their review of a classic movie. Now this episode doesn’t have an embed option either, so hit up their website at the link above.
Also to add, MYMHM have been nominated for Best Movie/Film PodCast at the 2009 Pod Cast Awards Peoples Choice. So check out MYMHM and vote! Don’t forget to verify your votes via email.

7) The Web Files: Episode 20
Another insightful interview, but one can expect none less from The Web.Files team. This week they interview the people behind the award winning series, MERRIme.com. The Web.Files is a great place for all the behind the scenes, what motives and inspires the web series creators. Again, truly a must watch series
8) Duck ‘n Cover: 2.9
This episode brings up a good question… What would your perfect mate be like?
Though for the answers from these cop while on a stake out, you must watch Perfect Woman
9) Riese the Series: 1.2
Absolutely, this series has a great feel to it. Great actors, wardrobe, writing and production… Will be awaiting each episode faithfully. They recently began to be aired on KoldCast TV. So you can watch them there, and still visit their website, Riese the Series.
Before I finish this post, Must mention
- Safety Geeks: SVI can now be seen on Clicker.com.
- To beat the winter weather, check out Palisades Pool Party
That is all I have for now. Check out these series, and let me know what you think.
Til next time, spread the word about your favorite web series!
