For Your Consideration, part 1: After Judgment - Drama,

Next time I shall post these way earlier. Now less than 6 days til public nominations for the Streamy Awards closes. Surely, you have been voting for your favorites by now. So at this point, the following 3 part blog for the Drama category is just my wish list for nominees.

After Judgment:

If you have watched any web series over the past 2 years, I can safely bet you have watched Before Judgment and this. So far this year, I have watched several new drama web series, but none delivered the same intense suspense and intrigue as the build up. Before Judgment is what I consider to be insightful teasers for the main After Judgement. I maybe on target, or could be totally wrong… I’m not by any means a professional web series~ologist (yes, I know that is not a word… just go with it). This year, there was a series that had a good marketing plan and an ARG-ish build up prior to launch, but when it launch… never dealt the intensity nor feel that I was hoping for. But that is not what I got from Before & After Judgment.

As a lead in, Before Judgment has a series of random videos. Each chronicling individuals as they experience the moments before “judgment”. At this point, I must say, this series does not have a ‘Left Behind’ feel. No heavy religious message is felt at anytime with in this series.

Before Judgment: Episode 1

True the titles Before & After Judgment in themselves implies “Revelation” sized drama, but survival is the main focus. Before I get ahead of myself, I should switch gears and jump into After Judgment

At first viewing, the series seems to start off as a fractured storyline, or an unraveled rope. Lets go with the rope scenario… The first few episodes seem to be out of order, but as the series progresses the loose episodes neatly form into a solid storyline (rope)… Okay, perhaps “rope” was a bad analogy. As the series starts, the characters lives are also like the unraveled rope… Unsure what to do, order is lost and all hope has vanished. After still being alive 100 years after the “judgment”, apathy plagues our characters. That is until a sighting of something thought lost starts to unite and raise hope with in a group of strangers… So (I seriously maybe reading too much into this, but..) that’s what I think is great about this style of storytelling. Aside from great visuals, cool special effect and acting… This has a very thoughtful and ingenious style about it.
